DNR Seeks Grand Marais Fishing Comments

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking public comments for its review of management plans for a number of Grand Marais-area lakes and streams.

The public comment period for the nine lakes and nine streams under review runs until December 31, 2010.  Lakes under review include McFarland, Poplar, and Ram Lakes; streams include the Flute Reed River, Nestor Creek, and the Onion River.

Current plans for lakes and streams in the area as well as recent fish population assessment information are available for review at the DNR’s Grand Marais area fisheries office, 1356 E Hwy 61, Grand Marais, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  For more information, call or email Persons at 218-387-3056 or steve.persons@state.mn.us

The DNR welcomes comments and suggestions on other streams and lakes in the area at any time, according to the media release, and such comments will be considered when those plans are due for review.
