Voyageurs Seeks Volunteers for Native Plant Garden

Voyageurs National Park is seeking volunteers to join Park staff on Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11 to plant native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers that have cultural and medicinal significance in Ojibwe tradition.

Volunteers and Voyageurs staffers will work primarily at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center on the west end of the Park near International Falls to restore wildlife habitat and establish a site for community members and Park visitors to learn about native plant species and their traditional uses.

Park officials stress that everyone is welcome to participate. No experience is necessary and families are encouraged to participate. Park staff will provide instruction and tools.

Find details about the effort, HERE, in the Voyageurs National Park press release.
