The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking comments on its management plans for a number of lakes and streams in the Finland area, including six lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
The call for comments, which will be accepted through Monday, February 28, is part of the DNR’s regular review of fisheries management plans. The new management plans will identify specific management activities for the bodies of water in questions for the next five to 20 years.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness lakes included in the review, which is being managed by the Finland Area Fisheries Office of the DNR, are Grace and Beth Lake in Cook County and Kawishiwi, Malberg, Koma, and Bog Lake in Lake County.
Citizens interested in reviewing the management plans or examining recent fish population assessment information can contact the DNR’s Finland Area Fisheries Office, 6686 Highway 1 Box 546 in Finland, Minnesota. The office hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm.
