Barry Johnson has canoed the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for 24 years. That’s 24 years of portaging, windy lakes, buggy nights and lots of memories–essentially, 24 years of stories.
Johnson was recently featured in the StarTribune because he’s commemorating those stories in a new publication, the BWCA Reader. And he wants your stories, too.
He’s accepting submissions from fellow BWCAW enthusiasts at a special web site, www.bwcareader.com. According to the article in the StarTribune, the site has gotten lots of traffic but Johnson is still looking for lots of stories to come in.
Essays should be 2,000 words or less and should be submitted online. The deadline is March 15. Writers looking for a little inspiration can also find sample essays on the site.
