The public comment period on the proposed master plan for Lake Vermilion State Park closes today. Interested citizens can still chime in on plans for the new 3,000-acre park online.
The Minnesota DNR’s online survey can be found HERE.
The Timberjay reports, HERE, that reaction to the park’s proposed master plan has been largely positive so far, and that the amount of public comment has been light. Concerns center mainly on properly separating various visitor activities in the park.
The draft master plan will go to DNR Commissioner Mark Holsten for review on Thursday. If approved, the plan will provide the broad outline for development of the park. The next phase of park development will include prioritizing development projects and finding funding for them.
