Minnesota Reopening Parks, Campgrounds

With its state government shutdown over, Minnesota is slowly reopening parks, campgrounds, and trails across the state, including in the Quetico-Superior region.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has a helpful page, HERE, listing the operational status of state park, trails, and state forest campgrounds.  The page is updated regularly and notes whether facilities are closed, open, or only partially open.

Bear Head Lake State Park near Tower was listed as partially open as of Thursday afternoon, for example.

The Minnesota DNR Electronic Licensing System is once again operational, meaning state boat, fishing, and other licenses can be purchased or renewed.

Non-essential, state-run facilities and services in Minnesota were shutdown after June 30 when the legislature and governor could not agree on a new budget for the state.
