Officials Call Voyageurs Day a Success

Community officials from the International Falls area called this month’s Voyageurs National Park Day in Washington, D.C. a success for raising awareness of the park and region among Minnesota’s federal lawmakers.

The International Falls Journal has the story HERE.

International Falls mayor Shawn Mason, city councilors Tim “Chopper” McBride and Paul Eklund, Koochiching County commissioners Rob Ecklund and Brian McBride, St. Louis County commissioner Mike Forsman, and a representative of the Voyageurs National Park Association traveled to the nations capitol for the second Voyageurs National Park Day.

In addition to meeting with members of the state’s congressional delegation — and, perhaps as importantly, their staffs — the International Falls contingent met with State Department officials about a variety of international borders issues.

The travelers stressed the importance of establishing and building on relationships made in Washington at the previous Voyageurs National Park Day.
