Nancy Jo Tubbs of the Timberjay, wrote recently about the decline in the moose population in northeastern Minnesota in THIS op-ed column.
In the piece, Tubbs shares her moose sighting experiences and outlines the findings of the Moose Advisory Committee that the Minnesota DNR has turned to for advice on how best to manage the stressed species.
Recently, we reported on the committee’s report HERE. It names climate change as a long-term threat to moose populations in Minnesota and, though it recommended leaving the moose hunting season intact, favors active management of the state’s deer population, which often carries diseases to which moose are susceptible.
