Part-way through the firearms deer hunting season, harvest numbers are down in Northestern Minnesota.
The Timberjay reported HERE that, as expected, deer registration in the region was down 21%, despite unseasonably mild weather conditions during the opening days of the hunt.
DNR managers attribute the reduced harvest to a 20-25% decrease in deer population in the region and to a reduction in the number of antlerless permits issued this season.
The Minnesota firearms deer season continues through this weekend.
