A new book authored by Betty Vos Hemstad and published by the Minnesota Historical Society spotlights Boundary Waters area wildflowers in a new way. Wildflowers of the Boundary Waters: Hiking Through the Seasons depicts northern Minnesota’s wildflowers in various stages of development — from bud, to flower, to seed.
Hemstad, a summer resident of the Gunflint Trail, collects 20 years of color photos for her book. Her descriptions of more than a 100 regional flowers include information on where the plants can be found and their traditional uses.
Vos Hemstad will talk about her book at the Barnes & Noble in the Galleria in Edina on Thursday. Details about the appearance can be found HERE.
