Superior National Forest Supervisor Named

Brenda Halter has been named the new supervisor of the Superior National Forest, replacing Jim Sanders, who retired from the position in December.

The Duluth News Tribune has the story full  HERE.

Halter, who begins the job in May, has 18 years of experience with the U.S. Forest Service. Halter worked on the teams that established the current forest plans for the Superior and Chippewa National Forests. Most recently, she led efforts to establish new forest planning rules for the entire national forest system.

Halter has a master’s degree in biology and has experience as a hydrologist and forest planner. Her husband Al Williamson works for the USFS as a national wildlife program leader.

Current Acting Forest Supervisor Tim Dabney will return to his post as deputy forest supervisor once Halter takes charge next month.
