There are several opportunities coming up in the next couple months to help provide high-quality recreation in the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs National Park.
Voyageurs Volunteer Rendezvous
Every September, Voyageurs National Park Association and the National Park Service host a two-day volunteer blitz in Voyageurs National Park. This year, it will be on September 16 and 17.
People of all ages and skills are welcome to attend – no experience is necessary. National Park Service staff will provide the tools and training required to make a positive impact on the park.
This year, most volunteers will be working at the Ellsworth Rock Gardens, with boat transportation provided to the site. Evening entertainment and socializing is also included. A $25 donation per day is requested to help cover expenses.

Kekekabic Trail Clearing
Help keep the Kekekabic Trail open to hikers by clearing down trees and brush. The Kekekabic Trail stretches 42 miles from Ely to the Gunflint Trail, traversing the heart of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Volunteers will travel by canoe to reach the work site.
This volunteer weekend, hosted by the Northwoods Volunteer Connection, will be from Thursday, August 25 to Sunday, August 28. Food and most equipment is provided.

Portage Project
Spend the week of Sept. 12-16 helping fix the aging boardwalk on the Big Moose-Cummings portage in the Boundary Waters. This project is also hosted by the Northwoods Volunteer Connection.
New planks will be placed and secured to the original foundation to replace the aging wood. Volunteers will travel by canoe from the Big Moose South entry point approximately 4 hours to camp on Big Moose Lake.
