The National Park Service and Voyageurs National Park Association are asking for feedback on the park’s priorities for the next five years. Anyone interested in the 218,000 acres of wild woods and water on the Minnesota-Ontario border can attend brainstorming sessions or submit comments online or by mail.

The information provided will be shared with Voyageurs National Park leaders, staff, and partners.

“The hope is that through the public discussion, and the focused efforts of the park team, we’ll develop a shared vision for the priorities of the park for the next five years,” said park superintendent Bob DeGross. “My goal is to build alignment of priorities across divisions and to strengthen internal and external communications about those priorities so that we are all on the same page.”

The four questions that will be considered during the process are:

  • What do you feel the national park is doing well?
  • What could the national park improve upon in the future?
  • What do you feel national park management should focus on over the next 5 years?
  • How do you feel Voyageurs National Park Association could make the most impact in supporting the park in the future?

Three listening sessions will be held throughout the day on Monday, May 8 at the Voyageurs National Park Headquarters in International Falls. All three sessions will be identical. Refreshments will be provided. The times are 10 a.m. – Noon  (RSVP), 1 – 3 p.m. (RSVP), 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (RSVP).

Comments can also be sent using an online survey, emailing voya_superintendent@nps.gov, or postal service to Park Superintendent, 360 Highway 11 East, International Falls, MN 56649.
