Environmental groups are challenging Minnesota’s plan to reduce haze in places like the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Voyageurs National Park.
Whereas the federal haze rule requires power plants and other air polluting industries to install the best available technologies to reduce pollution, an article on MPR reports that Minnesota’s plan allows polluters to trade pollution allowances.
Environmental groups have filed a lawsuit against the plan, which they say won’t guarantee any improvement in haze, with the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, in St. Louis.
