The 92,682 acre Pagami Creek Fire which started in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in August is now 87% contained, according to the fire’s Incident Command.
Moderate temperatures and precipitation aided firefighting efforts on Wednesday, when crews completed a critical fireline south of Fishdance Lake on the northern edge of the burned area. Fireline construction continued along the East side of the fire near Ferne Lake and on the southwest side of the fire near Bog Lake.
Precipitation is likely again on Thursday and cooler, wetter conditions are expected to continue to aid firefighting efforts. Mop up will begin in the Fishdance Lake area and crews will continue constructing lines in the Ferne Lake and Bog Lake areas. Included in the mop up efforts where the fire has been contained is the work of back hauling over 75 miles of hose.
