International Task Force Issues Report

The International Lake of the Woods and Rainy River Watershed Task Force recently released its draft report addressing how Canada and the United States should work together to manage water quality and related issues in the watershed.

The task force highlighted seven priority issues in its report, including increased aboriginal participation in watershed decision-making, nutrient enrichment concerns, invasive species management, and climate change concerns.

The task force was mandated by the International Joint Commission and the governments of Canada and the United States to review and make recommendations regarding the bi-national management of the Lake of the Woods and Rainy River Basin and the IJC’s potential role in this management.
