In March, Voyageurs National Park will have a day to itself with Minnesota’s U.S. Senators and Representatives in Washington D.C., when a delegation heads to the nation’s capitol to lobby for Minnesota’s only National Park
On March 10, representatives from Koochiching and St. Louis Counties, the Voyageurs National Park Association, Destination Voyageurs National Park, the City of International Falls, and the park itself will advocate for Voyageurs at the capitol.
The Voyageurs advocates intend to lobby for the Park and its gateway communities in general as well as for individual needs.
Projects looking for funding and support include: International Falls’ plan to develop a Voyageur Heritage Center; Destination Voyageurs’ plans to market Voyageurs as the country’s only water-based park; the Voyageurs National Park Association’s efforts to purchase privately-held land in the Park for resale to the government; and county plans to construct sewer systems for developments near the Park.
