Events and activities are scheduled every weekend during February and March at northern Minnesota’s watery and wild national park. It provides an incentive to people from far away to travel to the park, as well as opportunities for residents of nearby communities.
The “Winter at Voyageurs Event Series” is sponsored by Voyageurs National Park Association, the friends group of the National Park. All events are free, except the paddle-making workshop.
“This year’s Winter at Voyageurs Event Series offers something for everyone,” said Voyageurs Chief of Interpretation, Tawnya Schoewe. “From pre-k to adult, from hands-on woodworking, to learning more about Voyageurs’ most elusive animal, to crafts for children. Everyone is welcome to come find their winter activity.”
VNPA also points out there are many ways to enjoy the park during the winter, from sledding on the park’s official sledding hill to snowshoeing and skiing to ice fishing, of course.
This Sunday, Feb. 5, there will be activities for kids between pre-k and fifth grade. It features a program on how animals survive winter in Voyageurs National Park. There will also be hands-on games, stories, and craft-making. Full details are available on the NPS website.
