A wildfire that threatened Ely, Minnesota on Thursday is 100% contained according to officials fighting the 175-acre blaze.
The latest update on the fire can be found HERE, on the Minnesota Incident Command System web site.
Thanks in part to nearly an inch of rainfall on Saturday evening, firefighters have begun reducing the number of personnel and resources devoted to the fire which was touched off by a downed power line. Several small fires quickly grew on Thursday into a blaze that touched off spot fires ahead of itself powered by strong winds.
The fire caused an evacuation of a number of homes along Highway 1, south of Ely. Residents were allowed to return to their homes Saturday afternoon.
