The number of deer harvested in northern St. Louis County during the recently concluded 16-day firearms deer season increased 20% from last year, according to Minnesota Department of Natural Resources statistics.
The Timberjay reported the story HERE.
The increase in the take of antlered deer was only up 5%, according to the story. The number of antlerless deer killed, however, rose 42% due to an increase in the number of permits available and an intensive zone in the Cook and Lake Vermilion area.
Officials say the harvest numbers confirm a large deer population in region, helped by last year’s mild winter.
