Voyageurs National Park may be best known for paddling and boating, but for the hiker it offers spectacular vistas and a variety of forest scenery.
The park has just launched a Hike to Health program — hikers record signposts throughout the park and after completion of trails, they receive recognition, stickers, and its a fun way to explore new paths in the park. Trails in the park range from easy walks to strenuous, and include some that are accessible only by boat and a visit to a former gold mine.

The Voyageurs National Park Association just announced the opening of the Rainy Lake Recreation Trail – a paved multi-use (non motorized) trail that connects the Rainy Lake Visitor Center and the International Falls Bike Trails. Park Ranger, Justin Olson said, “People are really excited for this trail, and we’re ready for people to be active on it. And if you’re in need of a break, there will be benches, a picnic table, and a bike rack here on the plaza at the visitor center.” (via voyageurs.org)
